Checklists

Gather the file. The list does not decide the file.

These are the same working lists used on the service pages, in one place. Check an item when you have it. A checked box means the document is in hand. It does not mean the response is ready or that the clause is acceptable.

Founder, Rivet Health Law, PLC

Joseph Rivet built these lists from the documents he asks for at the start of an audit, a compliance review, a transaction, or an employment-agreement read. They reflect more than 20 years in healthcare operations and his legal practice. They are intake tools.

Last reviewed October 1, 2026. This page is general information for healthcare organizations. It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Who this is for

Who uses this center

  • The person who just opened an audit letter
  • A compliance lead doing a monthly pulse check
  • A buyer who has not finished the revenue-cycle data room
  • A physician reading an offer before signing

First pass

First steps you can take today

These steps organize the question. They are not a substitute for counsel.

  1. 1

Choose one list. Leave the others closed.

  2. 2

Calendar the real deadline before you start checking boxes.

  3. 3

Save copies of what you find with the date you found them.

  4. 4

Stop and call counsel if the letter limits who may respond, or if the agreement is ready for signature.

How to use a list

Pick the list that matches the document in front of you. Work top to bottom. If you cannot check an item, that absence is the note to keep, not a box to force.

Your checks stay in this browser. They are not sent to the firm. Do not put patient names in a note outside the medical record.

What a finished list is not

It is not an appeal, a compliance certification, a diligence opinion, or a negotiated contract. When the deadline is short or a clause will bind you, the practice page for that topic is the place to ask the firm to read the file.

Common questions

Are these the same lists as on the service pages?
Yes. They are repeated here so you can run them without opening each practice page. The service page still explains the work around the list.
Does checking every box mean we are done?
No. It means you gathered the items. Sufficiency depends on what the documents say.
Will the firm see what I checked?
No. The checks are stored in your browser only. Email the documents if you want the firm to review them.

Mark these before you sign

Work through the agreement with a pen. If a box stays empty, that clause still needs an answer—not a handshake.
